Course Overview

The Level 3 Diploma in Production Arts can be completed as a one-year Diploma or extended to a two-year Extended Diploma. This program focuses on backstage theatre production, preparing students for work in diverse settings such as theatres, music venues, festivals, TV and film studios, and in stage, event, and artist management.

You will gain practical skills in:
- Production and stage management
- Stage lighting
- Live and recorded sound
- Projection mapping and A/V (Audio Visual)
- Prop making
- Scenic construction
- Front of house operations.

These skills are developed through vocational experience, working on live productions including plays, music gigs, and musical performances, as well as through site-specific projects. The course emphasises industry-standard working practices, helping you build a professional experience portfolio for employment or university progression.

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language), or Successful completion of a relevant Level 2 programme which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
To achieve the Diploma qualification (Year 1), you must successfully pass eight units. Unit 8, a collaborative performance project, allows you to demonstrate your accumulated learning and determines your overall qualification grade (Pass, Merit, or Distinction).

For the Extended Diploma qualification (Year 2), you must successfully pass 12 units, including Units 1–8 of the Diploma, plus Units 9-12. Unit 12, an extended project, showcases your learning from all units and is graded Pass, Merit, or Distinction. This unit is assessed both internally and externally.
