Why Choose An Apprenticeship?

Kickstart your career with an apprenticeship and earn as you learn.

Across North Wales and beyond, companies are recruiting for apprenticeships and training people in the skills they need to succeed in their career.

As an apprentice you will earn whilst you learn, gaining skills, knowledge, experience and recognised qualifications along the way. Whether you’re aged between 16 and 19 or 20 and over, a range of apprenticeship options may be available to you.

There is a huge number of food manufacturing businesses in North Wales supplying food and drink across the UK and the world!

Apprentices will be assessed in the workplace by our industry served assessing teams and have access to college resources to help with their studies.

“This course has given me so much confidence and has helped me in my day-to-day tasks at work.

“Having the support of my tutor, Daryl, has been invaluable – he has not only been on hand to help with any course related queries I have, but also to help with any workplace based questions I had too!

“It’s so lovely to have a qualification in baking and I can’t wait to move on to Level 3.”

“I started butchering at the age of 14 and was doing so until becoming an assessor in 2019. I wanted to become an assessor to help new butchers gain qualifications and share as much of my knowledge as I can.

“I was a World Skills gold medalist for butchery in 2016 and attended in 2017 to carry out a butchery demonstration, unfortunately there is no longer a category for butchery but I hope it’s reinstated in the future.

“I am now an ISEiW (Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales) ambassador so I would like to promote big competitions to butchers so they can take part and raise the profile of butchery in Wales.

“I also want to get as many butchers as possible into competitions to really prove the skill and talent that is in this industry. Butchery can sometimes get overlooked, but it really astounds people when they see what can be produced by butchers across Wales.”
