Course Overview

This course offers a unique opportunity to explore a sector that blends elements of sport, business, games design, coaching, and media. You'll develop a powerful combination of social, physical, mental, and financial skills – all highly valued in today's dynamic workplace. While strategy, skill, and teamwork are key to success, it's not just about playing games; you'll experience gaming for assessments and when competing in the British Esports Association Student Champs League.

You will study four core mandatory units:

- Unit 1: Introduction to Esports
- Unit 2: Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis
- Unit 3: Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry
- Unit 4: Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players
- Unit 5: Esports Events.

In addition to these, you'll delve into ten optional units, giving you the chance to gain in-depth knowledge across various esports areas like content creation, games design, sport, media, and business.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths OR Successful completion of a relevant Level 2 programme which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy.

The BTEC qualification uses a mix of practical assignments, tasks, and written exams, giving you the confidence to apply your knowledge in real-world scenarios and preparing you for higher education. This varied approach allows you to showcase your learning and achievements effectively, whether you’re applying for university or seeking employment. There are four externally assessed exams/tasks over the two-year course.



This qualification is perfect for learners who want to go straight into employment in the esports industry, perhaps through an apprenticeship, or who aspire to go on to higher education. Endorsed by the British Esports Association, this qualification is recognised by employers and will support your entry into a wide range of roles within the industry.

You’ll also have the opportunity to progress to a broad range of higher education programmes, including bachelor’s degrees.

– Team Coach
– Events Organiser
– Shoutcaster and Presenter
– Social Media Influencer
– Video Production Editor
– Photographer
– Games Designer.

This qualification carries UCAS Tariff points and is widely recognised by higher education providers as contributing to entry requirements for many related courses. When you complete this two-year, full-time programme, you can progress to degree programmes such as a BA (Hons) in Events Management, a BA (Hons) in Media, or a BA (Hons) in Esports, as well as many other higher education programmes. Remember to check the entry requirements for specific degree programmes with universities.
