Course Overview

Ready to take your first step towards a rewarding career in health, social care or childcare? This fully supported programme is designed for you, especially if you're just starting your further education journey in this exciting sector.

What You'll Learn:
This course is all about helping you grow personally, socially, and academically, so you can achieve your full potential and move on to your next level of learning or future employment. You'll develop essential academic skills and gain important knowledge about the health, social, and childcare sector in a welcoming and supportive environment.

A core focus will be on boosting your literacy and numeracy skills. You'll get plenty of opportunities to work on practical tasks that will also strengthen your Maths, English, and Digital Literacy. Once you're ready, you'll even have the chance to achieve Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number.

We believe in learning by doing! This course offers lots of practical tasks to help you develop.

Your Support Every Step of the Way
You'll be assigned a Pastoral Coach who will be there to support you throughout your time on the programme. They'll make sure any additional learning needs (ALN) support is in place before you even start, and if any new support needs come up, they'll be incorporated into your programme to help you succeed. This course is fully supported to meet your individual needs and learning differences.
This course is aimed at learners aged 16-18 years old.

The course is designed for learners working at Entry level and so formal qualifications are not required for entry onto this course.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
You’ll complete WEST diagnostic assessments for literacy and numeracy. You’ll work towards Entry level diplomas to help you progress to your next level of learning.
Throughout the course, you’ll be supported to plan your next steps. Upon completion, you could progress to:

*A higher-level course in a vocational area of your choice
*A JGW+ or apprenticeship programme
*Employment
*A community-based programme.
Some courses may require kit/uniform to be purchased. Please see attached kit list for further information.
