Duration | Full Time, This is a 1 year full time course. The Access course delivery is a credit based, modular course which can be studied full time over a period of one year (34 academic weeks) running from September to June . The course runs (usually over 4 days) 9.30am–2.30pm. An important aspect of this programme is your own personal time management and it is crucial that you plan ahead in regards to your allocation of both in class and independent studies, having such a plan in place will support you and your success. |

GCSE grade C/4 in English/ Welsh (1st Language) or Maths, with at least grade D/3 in the other subject

Experience in a suitable Health Care setting is preferred. Applicants should be 19+ to study this course.
However, we encourage adults with life and work experience to still apply even if they don’t have the above entry requirements as each learner application is assessed on an individual basis.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact individual universities for information about entry requirements. Many Nursing degree courses ask for GCSEs at C/4 or above in Maths and English.
You may be advised to enrol on the Preparation For Career and Study course or ESWS prior to starting the Access course. These programme allows the opportunity to take a GCSE in either Maths or English.

The programme is achieved by continuous assessment, the majority of which is assignment work with some experience of timed tests or examination situations. Credits are achieved on satisfactory completion of each unit of study. To be awarded an Access to HE Diploma, 60 credits must be achieved, which include a number of mandatory credits. Level 3 credits are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.
On successful completion of the full programme of study students are awarded the Agored Cymru ‘QAA – recognised’ Access to H.E. Diploma.
