Course Overview
This course is designed to prepare you for a fulfilling career in the health and social care sector. It's equivalent to three A-levels, giving you a strong academic foundation for your future.
What You'll Study:
Over two years, you'll delve into a diverse range of topics, developing essential knowledge, skills, and understanding relevant to health and social care services. The curriculum covers current issues in the sector, principles of care and safe practice, factors affecting individual growth and development, promoting rights, supporting individuals at risk, and working within the healthcare sector.
To further enhance your university applications, you'll have the chance to complete extended units, including science elements, to achieve the equivalent of three A-levels. For those who need it, we also offer a part-time Biology GCSE resit in the evenings.
New learners will also complete the HSC Core qualification alongside the Level 3 program, preparing them for work in the sector.

A significant part of this course involves practical placement experience. You'll complete a minimum of 150 hours in a relevant setting during your first year and continue your placement into your second year.

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths and preferably Science OR Successful completion of a relevant Level 2 programme which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy.
Learners who have not yet completed the Level 2 Health and Social Care Core will also complete this qualification alongside their level 3.

Upon completion, you’ll be well-prepared for direct employment in various roles, such as HCA (Healthcare Assistant), Physio Aide, Project Worker, or Ambulance Technician.
This qualification also provides an excellent foundation for higher education, opening doors to a wide range of university courses like Social Work, Teaching, Health Promotion, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Midwifery, Nursing, and Radiography.
