Our Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing will equip you with the skills to become a successful hairdresser in this dynamic and fast paced industry. What You’ll Learn
This course is designed to give you a strong foundation in all aspects of hairdressing. You will:
- Develop essential knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to hairdressing
- Understand crucial health, safety, and legal requirements for hairstylists
- Master the art of client consultation
- Gain practical skills in a range of basic cutting, colouring, and lightening services
- Learn setting, dressing, and blow-drying techniques
- Enhance your communication and customer service skills – highly valued by employers
- Develop an awareness of environmental sustainability and problem-solving skills.
Alongside theoretical study, learners will gain practical experience through regular work experience sessions in our commercial salons and dedicated workshops. This course fundamentally focuses on developing essential employability skills. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers.
The Level 2 Hairdressing qualification includes the following mandatory course components:
● Essential Skills Wales training and assessments
● Development of Welsh language skills
● Development of literacy and numeracy
● All learners must complete a work placement
Please note that your timetable may include some occasional evening sessions. Dates will be provided by your tutor on Induction.

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths. Successful completion of a relevant Level 1 programme which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy.

Coursework is by continuous assessment and learners can gain a Pass.
Upon successful completion of this diploma, you’ll be well-prepared to progress to our Level 3 Hairdressing course or embark on a Modern Apprenticeship in Hairdressing. Open doors to exciting new opportunities in the creative industry.
