Course Overview

This course will help you develop the practical and theoretical skills for a rewarding career in make-up. You'll build a strong portfolio of your work, essential for showcasing your talents, and develop crucial interpersonal skills for effective client communication.

Some of the exciting units you will study include:
- Photographic make-up
- Face and body painting
- Lash and brow treatments
- Dressing and styling hair.

In addition, your programme includes compulsory elements to enhance your overall development:
- Essential Skills Wales training and assessments
- Development of literacy and numeracy
- Development of Welsh language skills
- A compulsory work placement to gain real-world experience.

Please note, your schedule may include some evening sessions, with dates provided during your induction.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy.

Coursework is by continuous assessment of practical observations, assignments and exams.

Employment in this sector is incredibly varied, with opportunities in film, fashion, TV, or theatre. While many professionals in this industry are self-employed, you’ll gain the skills to build your portfolio and bid for contracts on photoshoots and with fashion designers.
