Course Overview
This one-year, full-time course is perfect for creative students eager to begin a career in Floristry. You'll attend classes three or four days a week, from 9:00am to 4:45pm.
What You'll Learn:
- A wide range of essential floristry skills, including tied, funeral, and wedding designs.
- Insight into the theory elements and botanical names of flowers and plants.
- Information on supporting organisations within the floristry industry.
- You'll also take part in educational visits and work experiences and real life weddings.
Work Experience: A key component of this qualification is work experience, with a mandatory minimum of 150 hours to be completed during the course. You will carry out an external work experience placement in the floristry industry.
How You'll Learn: Learning will involve a variety of methods, including lectures, practical work, and digital learning technology. English and Maths are integral to the program, and we'll help you improve your literacy and numeracy skills. You'll also be expected to do work at home to support your learning.

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths/Numeracy or Science OR Successful completion of a relevant Level 1 programme which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy.

The course is assessed by a synoptic assessment, which includes a written exam, a controlled assessment of practical skills, work experience, and health and safety. You’ll also have mock examinations, assessments, and informal practice assessments to help you learn effectively.
Successful completion of this course can lead to progression to a Level 3 FE course or a Level 3 Work-Based Apprenticeship in Floristry. The course aims to help you gain employment as a retail florist within a floristry business. We encourage successful students to consider developing advanced design and supervisory skills to enhance their employment prospects.
