Course Overview

This qualification is designed for learners who have basic floristry knowledge and skills who are working in the floristry industry.

During your course you will develop skills and complete a range of activities including:

*Greeting customers and taking orders
*Receiving, caring for and conditioning fresh materials
*Design and create a range of floral designs for wedding, funerals and gifts to include tied and arrangements
*Calculating retail prices for a range of designs
*Health and safety in the workplace
*Display stock to promote sales

Option units include personal development, effective working relationships and packaging plants and floral designs.

The course gives learners the opportunity to develop knowledge and demonstrate their newly gained skills as a florist and gain this qualification whilst doing so.
Suitable learners of all ages over 16 are invited to join anytime of the year. It is essential you are currently employed in this area of learning and fully supported by your employer.

All applicants will undertake a thorough training needs analysis to ensure that the correct course and levels are chosen. Work placements must comply with health and safety requirements and be vetted by the college before enrollment.
Practical assessments will take place to assess competence and underpinning knowledge. Assessment of your competence will be based upon realistic workplace situations, performing purposeful and recognisable tasks which require a combination of skills and related knowledge.

Learning takes place through the form of a mixture of observations in the workplace, written and oral questioning and virtual learning environment via Google Drive.
This qualification is designed to develop your skills and progress your career as a florist. Upon completing this course, you may be interested in Level 3 Work-based Floristry.
