Course Overview
Are you ready to take the exciting step into the world of work? This unique one-year, full-time program, a special partnership between Project Search, ASDA Queensferry, and Coleg Cambria, is designed to help you successfully transition into the workplace. You'll gain valuable, transferable skills that employers are looking for, setting you up for a rewarding career.
What You'll Experience
This isn't your average course – it's a hands-on, immersive experience! You'll spend five days a week right in the ASDA Queensferry store, exploring different retail departments and gaining real-world experience. This practical approach will build your confidence and give you the skills you need for future employment or volunteering opportunities.
Throughout the week, you'll also have classroom-based sessions right at ASDA. These sessions will strengthen your communication, numeracy, and digital literacy skills, ensuring you have everything you need to succeed.
Our aim is to prepare you for paid employment by:
*Helping you develop skills valued by employers.
*Enabling you to show your value in the workplace.
*Building your confidence to perform successfully at work.
Every activity on this program is designed to provide you with the specific knowledge, skills, and understanding for your individual journey. You'll also have dedicated support from an Employability Mentor and Job Coach on-site, guiding you towards working independently within the ASDA team.

This programme is designed for learners with learning disabilities and/or difficulties who require support to enter into paid employment. It is suitable for learners progressing from ILS Programmes. This programme is based on-site at ASDA where the majority of the programme is practical work experience. New students undertake a comprehensive initial assessment and induction before progressing to an individualised work experience programme linked to their specific targets and aspirations. Learners suited to this course will have an Education plan (IDP or Education Health Care Plan) which details their additional learning needs.
Learners will need to be able to travel independently to work placements.

Your progress is important, and we’ll support you every step of the way! You’ll have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to record your personal goals and targets. Your Personal Tutor and Transitions Officer will provide regular one-to-one support to review your progress and offer guidance within your placement. These individual targets ensure you’re always moving towards your long-term career aspirations. You may even achieve a relevant qualification or units during the program.
The ultimate goal of this internship is to help you secure paid employment! You’ll be well-prepared to pursue exciting roles in the retail sector and beyond
