Course Overview
An introduction to British Sign Language will enable you to have a better insight into BSL: the language, the community, the culture and will raise Deaf awareness. It will help you to communicate with Deaf people or individuals who are Hard of Hearing (HH) in everyday situations.

The aim of the course is to provide you with simple signs to encourage better support for individuals. Fingerspelling games will make learning fun and active. Through practicing with friends, you will be able to introduce yourself, use greetings and pleasantries giving you new confidence.

WK1: Helpful Tips, Fingerspelling & Simple Pleasantries
WK2: Emotions, Numbers & Family
WK3: Re-Cap, Deaf Culture, Everyday Conversation
WK4: Signs Recognition, Awareness, Environment
WK5: Everyday Conversations, Days of the week, Months of the year, Weather & Seasons
WK6: Re-cap over weeks 1-5 clarification and a quiz.
