The qualification will cover the core knowledge and understanding required to work within the Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development sectors.

By studying this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the core principles and values which underpin Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice.

Alongside the Core qualification you will complete the Level 2 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice and Theory level 2 to provide learners with the licence to practice to assist with working with children.

Some of the key subjects you will be covering will be:

• Supporting play, learning, growth and development
• Supporting nutrition and hydration in early years
• Responding to signs of potential illness and infestation/infection
• Beginning to understand Child Development

The qualification will be assessed through a series of internally assessed tasks. There will also be externally marked assessment tasks including a multiple choice paper and an examination.

You will also attend a compulsory work placement during your course where you will complete 280 hours placement.
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths.

Progression learners moving from level 1 will be expected to achieve at least a Level 1 in Essential Skills for both Maths and English.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
