Entry to Engineering

Entry to Engineering offers a fully supported programme for learners on the first step of their further education journey at college.

The programme will give young people the opportunity to break down any barriers they may have to learning, allowing them to grow and develop personally, socially and academically in order to successfully achieve their full potential and progress to their next level of learning or future employment.

The core curriculum will help learners to develop their confidence, life and employability skills in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. They will complete practical sessions in workshops and cover theory in relation to:
Fabrication & Welding, Engineering & Motor Vehicle

Enrichment activities will develop skills in communication, teamwork and leadership, helping to build confidence and overcome any anxieties or social barriers. During these activities learners will work towards a Prince’s Trust Achieve certificate.

Literacy and numeracy development will be a core focus for all learners and once ready, learners will have the opportunity to undertake Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number.

This course offers lots of practical tasks which will also help develop your Maths, English and Digital Literacy skills.

Learners will be assigned a Pastoral Coach who will support them throughout their time on programme. They will ensure that any ALN support is put in place before learners start and that any new support needs that may arise are incorporated into their programme to help them to succeed. The course is fully supported to meet individual needs and learning differences.

The programme is delivered over three days and will be a mixture of classroom and off site delivery.
