Learners who have not achieved grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English will have a mandatory requirement to attend sessions to support this in addition to their vocational programme.
The course requires continual assessment of college based assignments which will be collated as portfolio evidence to meet the needs of the awarding body.

Essential Skills will be continually assessed through the duration of the course.
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language), or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
This qualification can develop the skills you need to start to progress towards an Apprenticeship. Many employers recognise the skills, knowledge and behavioural skills gained on completion of this programme, to allow progression into employment.

An increasing number of employers in the Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering industry now see the acquisition of relevant National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s). Opportunities may exist to gain trainee employment in any of the following trade disciplines:

● Fitting
● Machinists
● Mechanical/Assembly

Learners who gain employment may also, depending on conditions offered by their employer, have the opportunity to progress to our higher levels in Engineering which would complete your apprenticeship.
Some courses may require equipment and/or uniforms to be purchased. Please see attached equipment list for further information.
