Course Overview

This course is designed to provide an all-round introduction to the Travel and Tourism industry for those who wish to further their careers in one of its many connected occupational areas.

An example of units you could study as part of the course are:

• Tourism in the UK
• Airports and Airlines
• Understanding Specialist Tourism
• Introduction to Guided Tours
• Work experience in Travel and Tourism
(these units can be changed)

Within all of the units there are elements of developing customer service, marketing, business and also employment skills as well as gaining knowledge of specific jobs in the industry.

There is a compulsory work experience element to this course which supports the development of skills and knowledge required for the course and industry.

In addition to the Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, the learning area programme consists of the following compulsory elements to the course:

● Essential Skills Wales training and assessments
● Development of Welsh language skills

Assessment

There will be continuous assessment throughout the course using written and practical assignments, which will include presentations and role-plays.

Some units are internally assessed through written tests (maximum 25%).

Some assessments may also occur in real-life working environments on work experience placements in external organisations.

Entry

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language), or successful completion of a relevant Level 1.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.

Career Options

You can seek employment within the Travel and Tourism industry, or progress onto the Level 3 Travel & Tourism course if you have achieved the required grades and met the entry criteria.
