Ready to build a strong future? This course is your perfect first step into the construction industry, setting you on the path to becoming a skilled bricklayer. You'll gain the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills you need for a rewarding career.

What You'll Learn:
This one-year programme, delivered over three days a week, blends hands-on workshop experience with essential classroom learning. You'll get to grips with:

*Health, safety and welfare in construction
*Working effectively in the construction industry
*Environmental awareness
*Access equipment in construction
*Residential dwellings in construction
*Basic bricklaying skills
*Basic block laying skills
*Building cavity walls
*Constructing block walling and openings in brickwork
*Boosting your communication and time management abilities
*Planning your future career.

Your Learning Journey and Support:
We're here to support you every step of the way! You'll have a Progress Coach who will work with you throughout the programme, ensuring any additional learning needs are met so you can succeed. You will have the opportunity to undertake Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number. These qualifications will help support your progression to higher levels of learning.
4 GCSEs at grade E/2 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language).

For all learners who are looking to progress onto this L1 course from an Entry programme you must have achieved your main qualification, progressed in Maths and English and hit all of the targets in your ILP.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
You’ll learn through a variety of engaging assessments, including practical workshop tasks, photographic portfolio evidence building, end-of-unit written assessments, project work and recorded discussions. Learners are encouraged to document their own development and progress by taking photographs of their work. Learners’ photographs should be annotated to demonstrate their understanding of specific learning outcomes and subject areas.
Upon completion, you’ll be well-prepared for your next steps, whether that’s progressing to a higher-level vocational course, an apprenticeship, or directly into employment. This course can open doors to exciting opportunities in construction.
