Are you aged 19 or over and dreaming of a dynamic career in hairdressing? This VTCT NVQ Level 2 Diploma is designed to give you all the essential skills and knowledge you need to become a successful Junior Hairdresser or Hairstylist. What You'll Learn:
This job-ready qualification is based on National Occupational Standards, meaning you'll gain the skills employers are truly looking for. You'll spend three days a week in college, from September to June, with some occasional evening sessions that your tutor will confirm.
You'll master essential techniques, including:
- Styling and dressing hair
- Colouring and lightening hair
- Client consultation
- Shampooing and conditioning hair.
In addition to these core skills, you'll explore a selection of optional units chosen at the beginning of the academic year, tailoring your learning to industry needs.

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy.

Coursework is by continuous assessment through practical observation, assignments and exams.
On successful completion of this course, learners are able to progress to the Level 3 Hairdressing or Level 3 Beauty Therapy course, or a Modern Apprenticeship in Hairdressing.
