This course is perfect for school leavers or those who are home-schooled with few or no qualifications, ready to embark on a hands-on learning journey. It's designed to help you gain excellent practical skills across a variety of exciting land-based areas, including agriculture, horticulture, conservation, estates management and engineering. You'll develop essential practical skills such as feeding, health checking, and moving farm animals, maintaining habitats and footpaths, keeping green areas pristine, and carrying out basic motor vehicle maintenance.

Where You'll Study

You'll be based at our Llysfasi campus, nestled in the breathtaking North East Wales countryside of Ruthin, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Animals You'll Work With

During your studies, you'll have regular access to our 970-acre farm. Here, you'll gain hands-on experience managing our dairy cows and lowland and hill sheep, and participate in estates skills on the farm and within our woodlands.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required. It is essential that you have a strong interest in activities and learning.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course

How you will be assessed

You’ll demonstrate your learning throughout the course through a variety of assessments designed to support your development. These include:

● Practical activities working around our site.
● Short knowledge questions.
● A portfolio of evidence.

You will also work towards improving your literacy and numeracy skills.

There are no exams on this course.

Your future career path

Upon successfully completing this course, you can progress to exciting further study options:

● Level 1 Animal Care.
● Level 1 Land Based Studies.

To progress, you will need to pass Entry 3 Land Based Studies, and demonstrate proficiency in Maths and English Basic Skills.
