Course Overview

Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of digital technology? This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to thrive in the fast-paced and ever-changing tech industry. Whether you're a creative problem-solver or a logical thinker, you'll develop the capacity for innovative, analytical, and critical thinking.

What You'll Learn
This A Level course is designed to help you develop the skills that are in high demand in the IT profession. You'll learn to apply your knowledge and understanding of ICT in a variety of contexts to solve real-world problems.

Year 1: Your Digital Foundation
In your first year, you'll explore how to use ICT to solve problems and understand the opportunities and effects of technology in today's world. You'll get hands-on experience with a range of software to create solutions for business-related challenges. This is where you'll build your core skills.

Year 2: Becoming a Digital Innovator
In your second year, you'll study the key concepts of ICT in the 21st century. This is your chance to acquire practical skills like co-operative working and project management, which are essential in the IT profession. You can even focus on areas of ICT that you find most interesting, using your new skills as a springboard for further qualifications or a career.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language / Welsh (1st Language) and Maths.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
Your progress will be assessed through a combination of external written exams and internal practical work. You’ll complete written papers for Units 1 and 3 under exam conditions, and for Units 2 and 4, you’ll produce a report based on your practical work and investigations. We’ll also hold internal mock examinations to give you valuable practice in a realistic exam environment.
With this qualification, you’ll be ready to pursue higher education or jump straight into one of the many emerging vocational areas in ICT. The tech industry is a huge area with a vast variety of job opportunities, and virtually every industry uses ICT in some way. You could work in design, development, installation, or maintenance, just to name a few possibilities.
