Are you fascinated by the magic of cinema? Do you love exploring how films are made and what makes them so impactful? Our A Level Film Studies course will ignite your passion, helping you to understand the power of film and prepare you for an exciting future in the creative industry.

What You'll Learn
You’ll delve deep into the art of filmmaking, discovering how every element, from cinematography and sound to editing and performance, comes together to create powerful stories. You’ll also explore how audiences react to films and how different contexts and critical approaches shape our understanding. This strong foundation will directly influence your own work as a filmmaker and screenwriter.

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll cover:
* Varieties of Film and Filmmaking:
Compare Hollywood films from 1930-1990.
Explore American and British films since 1995.
* Global Filmmaking Perspectives:
Study global cinema and the art of documentary film.
Discover the evolution of film through silent cinema and experimental film (1960-2000).
* Production:
Develop your own screenplay.
Analyse and evaluate your production in relation to professional films.

This is a two-year A Level course, with all assessments taking place at the end of the second year.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language / Welsh (1st Language) and Maths.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
