What You'll Explore
Get ready to delve into compelling historical periods and debates:
Year 1:
* British History (1603-1714): Explore the significant changes in Welsh and English society, politics, and the profound impact of major wars like the English Civil War . You'll discuss topics of great relevance today, including the evolution of political parties, the development of welfare, and the changing role of parliament and the power of the monarchy.
* Weimar and Nazi Germany (c1918-1933): Investigate the social, economic, and political landscape of Weimar Germany. You'll critically evaluate the rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party, examining their leadership, ideology, and propaganda. Get ready to debate key historical questions like, 'Why did the Nazi Party grow so rapidly?' and 'Was the fall of the Weimar Republic inevitable?'

Year 2:
* The American Century 1890-1990 Breadth study over the racial change towards African Americans and the US policy in foreign affairs from isolation to Super-power Status and the Cold War.
* The Third Reich (1933-1945): Deepen your understanding of Nazi rule and its impact across Germany and Europe.
* Non-Examined Assessment: Showcase your research and writing skills by completing an extended essay of 3000-4000 words, forming 20% of your A Level grade.




5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and meet the following criteria:

– GCSE English language / Welsh (1st language) at grade B/6 or above
– GCSE History at grade C/4 or above

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
The AS Period study will be assessed by a choice of structured essay questions, while the Depth Study will have evidence-based questions
