Course Overview
These qualifications are for people working in learning and development. The units and qualifications will provide people who carry out learning and development roles in their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for the role. They are available to anyone working in accredited learning; non-accredited learning (where people may train and assess skills but do not assess for a qualification); the NQF and the QCF.
Those wishing to access this qualification must be working in a relevant work setting and have the motivation to succeed in what is largely a learner driven qualification.
Units require performance evidence of reflecting on their own practice.
Methods must include:
• Examining products of work
• Questioning
• Discussion
• Use of others (witness testimony)
• Looking at practitioner statements
In this qualification, learners must have the opportunity to demonstrate their competence in a real environment with genuine learners in order to be able to meet all the requirements.

Since many of the units that form the Level 3 Certificate are also in the Level 4 Diploma, most practitioners achieving the Level 3 Certificate will already have significant credits within the Level 4 Diploma. The Level 3 provides routes for learners to understand and work in the field of learning and development. The Level 4 provides routes for learners to understand and work in senior and managerial roles in the field of L&D.
