Course Overview
This Ground care machinery training programme has been developed by leading machinery manufacturers and engineering education specialists Coleg Cambria Llysfasi. This industry approved training is designed to support Ground care machinery dealerships locally and across the UK.
This qualification covers all of the skills, knowledge and understanding required in the Groundcare and land-based engineering industry. You will study a wide range of areas that include health and safety, calculations for service engineering and workshop processes. You will learn how to repair engines, vehicle systems, electric systems and hydraulic systems, test electronic systems. In addition you will learn how to repair mechanical power transmission systems, synchromesh transmissions and clutches, powershift transmissions and hydrostatic or hydro-mechanical (CVT) transmissions. You will also learn how to repair mowing machinery, cultivation or drilling machinery, application machinery and also customer care and machine hand over and installation.
The course is taught mainly through practical sessions in our sector leading workshop by Industry trained lecturers and instructors, using the latest diagnostic equipment and machinery, Tractor operation and field work, classroom activities, visits and guest speakers. You will learn using a variety of methods, including theory sessions, individual and group work and practical tasks.
The course will give you the opportunity to take additional qualifications such as Tractor Driving, Telescopic Handler, Welding, Abrasive wheels, ATV, Fork Lift Truck, Abrasive Wheels, Customer Care, Installation, Air Conditioning and Refrigerant Handling.

Assessment will take place continuously throughout the year, in the form of assignments, practical observations, small tests, examinations and a synoptic assessment.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English/Welsh (1st Language) and Maths or equivalent or Level 2 Diploma in Agricultural Engineering.
