The qualification has been designed for students who have an interest in the Performing Arts. It will prepare you for further study at Level 3 and a career in the Performing Arts industry.

This course is made up of a variety of individual and group projects. You will be introduced to a range of activities essential to the development and delivery of a performance such as acting, vocal and movement skills as well as gaining an experience of backstage technical operations. During the course of the year, there will be opportunities to take part in public performances. Teamwork plays a vital part of the course and you will create performance materials as part of group work. There will be opportunities to work with practising professionals and you will participate in cultural and contextual activities supported through educational visits.

Your learning programme is made up of a number of qualifications. Coleg Cambria is committed to supporting your progression to employment or Higher Education. Therefore, all courses at Coleg Cambria provide the opportunity for the development of English and Maths to Level 2 and ideally to GCSE Grade C/4 if you have not already achieved this at school/college. This will enhance your prospects in the jobs market and will enable progression to Higher Education.

Students who successfully complete this course will gain the UAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing & Production Arts
In order to achieve the qualification, you must successfully pass nine units. The final unit, Producing and Performing to an Audience, allows you to demonstrate all the learning that has taken place through completion of the other units.

This unit is graded Pass, Merit or Distinction and determines the overall qualification grade and is internally and externally assessed.
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or for progression students the successful completion of a Level 1 qualification in Music, Performance and Production Arts and recommendation from course tutors.

All applicants will also undertake a workshop/project which they must attend and successfully complete.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
Employers value level 2 Diplomas and the course prepares you for employment in the Creative Industries. If you want to continue and progress with your studies, you can take a Level 3 qualification in a similar subject such as Performing Arts or Live Events.
