Course Overview
The qualification is designed for individuals working in, or intending to work, in the Children's Care, Play, Learning and Development sectors.
The qualification will cover the core knowledge and understanding to support working with children. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of the core principles and values which underpin Childrens Care, Play, Learning and Development Practice.
Alongside the Core qualification you will complete the Level 2 Theory and Practice which will provide you with opportunities to experience working with children in the Childcare & Education sector.
In addition to the Level 2 Child Care qualification, you will also be required to complete the following
● GCSE in English & Maths or Essential Skills Wales
● Development of Welsh language skills, through Welsh in the workplace.

The qualification will be assessed through a series of internally assessed tasks. There will also be externally marked assessment tasks including a multiple choice paper.

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including English Language / Welsh (1st Language) and Maths, or satisfactory performance at Level 1.
You must be able to demonstrate the potential to work independently and safely in childcare settings.

On successful completion you could progress to;
Level 3 Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development: Practice and Theory
Examples of job roles include those who work under supervision, such as Playgroup Assistant, Nursery Assistant, Crèche Assistant, Out of School Childcare Worker and Cylch Meithrin Assistant.
