Being an Enhanced programme, there is a particular focus on employment throughout the year. Students are given additional support sessions to work with specialist tutors to develop their CV’s and interview skills, and also work with our internal Job Shop to help them identify and apply for active apprenticeship vacancies with our partner companies.

The programme also has the benefit of up to 5 weeks work experience with one of our partner Engineering companies. This will give students a taste of what their potential career could look like and the opportunity for them to start networking with industry contacts. Please note, work experience placements will often fall into typical college holiday periods (e.g. October half-term, Easter etc).

To help further integrate with local Engineering industry, the programme also gives students the opportunity to achieve an Industrial Cadets endorsed award. This award involves small groups of learners working with specific industry mentors to develop a solution to an engineering problem, culminating in a ‘graduation’ ceremony where they are able to show off their project solutions.
Assessment for all units and modules within the course is by way of theoretical and practical assignments.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language), Science and Maths (Higher Tier Maths beneficial).

We will also accept successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification with GCSE Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language) at grade C/4 or above.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course
– An Engineering/Manufacturing Apprenticeship.

Examples of units include Further Maths, Further Mechanical Principles, Further Electrical/Electronic Principles, Engineering Project, Electronics and Engineering Business Studies, amongst others.

– Completion of the Extended Diploma will support progression towards entering full-time Higher Education (University).
