Course Overview
This practical course will help you gain skills in a variety of Engineering.
You will also gain skills in Engineering Measurements & Calculations and Health & Safety. This course will provide you with the theory and knowledge that underpins the practical competencies. This course follows the BTEC L3 and City and Guilds Diploma in Engineering Level 2 and all students will need to complete all of the following units for full achievement.

Unit 01: Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace
Unit 02: Communications for Engineering Technicians
Unit 03: Mathematics for Engineering Technicians
Unit 07: Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials
Unit 08: Mechanical Principles of Engineering Systems
Unit 56: Electrical and Electronic Principles in Engineering

City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate/Diploma in Engineering (2850-20)

7682-201 Working safely in an Engineering Environment
7682-202 Carrying out Engineering activities efficiently and effectively
7682-203 Using and communicating technical information
7682-204 Producing Mechanical Engineering Drawings using a CAD System
7682-215 Preparing and Using CNC Turning Machines
7682-236 Assembling and testing electronic circuits

Development of Literacy and Numeracy Skills

Work Related Experience
This practical and theory based course involves the skills and knowledge needed to do the job, ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems.
A combination of assignment work, tests, practical tasks, underpinning knowledge evidence questions.

Essential Skills will be continually assessed through the duration of the course.
5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths Higher Tier (preferably at grade B/6) and English Language/Welsh (1st Language).

To be eligible for entry on the programme, learners must be aged 16 – 24 on the 31 August

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
This course is helping learners to gain practical and theoretical knowledge units which help them to get apprenticeships or continue onto the 2nd year programme and later university.
