Course Overview
This course is a one year full-time internship programme, supporting learners to gain employment with work experience in real life internship placements. Learners will attend two days in the workplace and one day in the classroom for formal teaching.
The course is available on two sites Yale and Deeside/Northop, allowing learners to access a site and potential employment opportunities nearest to where they live.

Each student has an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) that records their personalised goals and targets. Students receive regular 1:1 support from their personal tutor and the transitions officer to review their progress and support within the placement. Individualised targets ensure progress toward Long Term destinations. A relevant qualification or units may also be achieved whilst on programme.
This programme is designed for learners with learning disabilities and/or difficulties who require support to enter into paid employment.
It is suitable for learners progressing from Entry Life Skills Programmes.
Gateway to Employment is based within the work environment where the majority of the programme is practical work experience.
New students undertake a comprehensive initial assessment and induction before progressing to an individualised work experience programme linked to their specific targets and aspirations.
Learners suited to this course will have an Education plan (Learning Skills Plan or Education Health Care Plan) which details their additional learning needs.
Learners will need to be able to travel independently to work placements.
