Course Overview
This course offers learners a broad introduction to, and develops knowledge and understanding of, the Construction and Built Environment Sectors. All learners will complete six mandatory core units which will cover an introduction to the Construction and Built Environment Sectors, Employment & Employability Skills and Health and Safety. In addition to the mandatory core units, learners will work towards learning about two trade areas: Bricklaying and General Construction Operations (Civil Engineering). The qualification equips learners with a broad, cross-cutting understanding of the sector, enabling them to make informed decisions about their own development.

● Introduction to the Trades in the Construction and Built Environment Sector
● Introduction to the Built Environment Life Cycle
● Employability in Construction and the Built Environment Sector
● Protecting Health, Safety and the Environment when working in the Construction and Built Environment Sector
● Introduction to emerging technologies in Construction and the Built Environment Sector.
One externally set, externally marked multiple-choice test.
One externally set, internally marked project covering two trade areas.
One externally set, internally marked guided discussion.
One externally set, internally marked health and safety test.
4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English/Welsh (1st Language).

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
The qualification provides sufficient knowledge for learners to progress into an apprenticeship in their choice of trade. On successful completion, learners who do not have an apprenticeship, may wish to continue on the Progression qualification full-time course.
