Access to HE - Health Care (September Daytime)

The programme is achieved by continuous assessment, the majority of which is assignment work with some experience of timed tests or examination situations. Credits are achieved on satisfactory completion of each unit of study. To be awarded an Access to HE Diploma, 60 credits must be achieved, which include a number of mandatory credits. Level 3 credits are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.

On successful completion of the full programme of study students are awarded the Agored Cymru ‘QAA – recognised’ Access to H.E. Diploma.

GCSE grade C/4 in English/ Welsh (1st Language) or Maths, with at least grade D/3 in the other subject.
or
Level 2 AON or Communication, with at least Level 1 in the other subject.

Experience in a suitable Health Care setting is preferred. Applicants should be 19+ to study this course.

However we encourage adults with life and work experience to still apply even if they don’t have the above entry requirements as each learner application is assessed on an individual basis.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact individual universities for information about entry requirements. Many Nursing degree courses ask for GCSEs at C/4 or above in maths and English.

You may be advised to enrol on the Preparation For Career and Study course or ESWS prior to starting the Access course. These programme allows the opportunity to take a GCSE in either Maths or English.

The Health Care qualification is designed for learners wishing to progress to degree courses to make their careers in the care sector such as Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Therapy or ODP and other Allied Health Professionals.

Some courses may require equipment and/or uniforms to be purchased.
