Course Overview
Many students choose Geography because of the scope it provides for studying a wide range of current themes and issues, the important insights it offers for understanding our contemporary worlds, and the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice through fieldwork. Geography is seen as a “facilitating subject” for entry to university and has a level of difficulty associated with this. The course builds on GCSE Geography topics and incorporates skills in essay writing, data analysis, map interpretation, information technology, fieldwork and personal research. Our aim is to provide students with the highest quality education and to equip students with a wide range of skills to prepare them for a rewarding and successful career. We seek to provide these within a stimulating, supportive, and friendly department.

A variety of assessment methods are used throughout the year, with internal mock examinations in both the AS and A2 years. External examinations are held at the end of the AS course in May/June. This is worth 40% of the total A Level.
