Course Overview
Coleg Cambria has an excellent reputation for delivering English Courses for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and you can study at either our Yale Site in Wrexham or our Deeside site in Flintshire.

Our Learn English Courses are split into the three core languages skills; Speaking and Listening , Reading and Writing and courses are available across 8 levels from absolute beginners for people with no language skills at all through to Level 2.

You will be able to increase your confidence in speaking English, reading text and writing in English. You will be able to improve your grammar and extend your vocabulary for work, study and home so that you can communicate confidently with friends and employers and enjoy your life in the UK.

The skills are delivered through a variety of topics, such as:

● Health
● Homes / Housing
● Education
● Employment / Training
● Money
● Travel
● Wales and the UK
● Leisure
● Buying goods
● People around us.
Following initial assessment you will be placed on a course to reflect your skills level (please note you may be on a different level for each skill as it is important that you access the right level course to support your skills development).

You will have an ILP (Individual learning Plan) with specific targets to be achieved during the course and these will be regularly reviewed to support progress in learning.

Depending on progress you may be entered for Trinity Skills for Life Exams. Students can take Reading, Writing and / or Speaking & Listening at a level they have been working towards
New students will be assessed during initial assessment and offered a course at a level reflected by the outcome of their assessment.

Continuing students will usually progress onto the next level. Therefore, the requirement is the level below e.g. a student who wishes to follow an Entry3 course would be required to have passed Entry 2.
Progression opportunities include courses at the college or employment.
Welsh Government funded course, subject to eligibility and as such your ID / Visa will be checked and fees may apply in certain cases.
