Course Overview
Ready to take your next step and understand the human mind? This A Level Psychology course will give you a strong foundation in a fascinating subject that explores behaviour, the mind, and different psychological approaches.
What You'll Learn
You'll get a solid grounding in the core elements of psychology, exploring five key psychological approaches: biological, psychodynamic, behaviourist, cognitive, and positive. You'll learn the assumptions of each approach and apply them to explain real-life situations, such as how relationships are formed.
The course will also equip you with an understanding of:
* How different therapies are used within each approach, and their effectiveness.
* How to evaluate each psychological approach, including its strengths and weaknesses.
* Classic psychological studies, their methodologies, and ethical considerations.
* Contemporary debates in psychology, from the ethics of neuroscience to the reliability of eyewitness testimony.
* The principles of psychological research, from planning to analysis.
In your second year, you'll delve deeper into the subject by exploring specific behaviours like addictive or criminal behaviours. You'll also conduct your own investigations, gaining first-hand experience with research methods and developing valuable ICT skills.
