Course Overview

Are you ready to dive into the world of Engineering?
Our Level 2 Pre-Apprenticeship Programme is a practical and theoretical course designed to kick-start your journey into a Craft and Maintenance career.

It is a 3 day a week program with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, you'll gain a wide range of mechanical engineering techniques that employers are looking for.

Who is this Course For?
This course is ideal for learners progressing from our Level 1 programme, or those with four GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language).
You’ll gain the qualifications needed to enter the industry directly at Level 3 through a Day Release Programme.

What You'll Learn
You'll develop essential skills through the City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations (7682-20).

Example units include:
• Working Safely in an Engineering Environment
• Carrying out Engineering Activities Efficiently and Effectively
• Using and Communicating Technical Information
• Producing Components using Hand Fitting Techniques
• Preparing and Using Lathes for Turning Operations
• Assembling and Testing Fluid Power Systems

Learners who have not achieved grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English will have a mandatory requirement to attend sessions to support this in addition to their vocational programme.

This practical and theory-based pre-apprenticeship course will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the engineering sector.

Boost Your Core Skills
We’re committed to your success, which is why you’ll also develop essential literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy skills. If you haven't yet achieved a grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English, you will receive mandatory support sessions alongside your vocational programme.

Real-World Experience
Gain valuable work-related experience throughout your programme, preparing you for a rewarding career in engineering.

4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language) OR Successful completion of a relevant Level 1 programme which must include achievement of numeracy and literacy.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
Your learning journey in this course will involve continuous assessment through college-based assignments.

These assignments will be compiled into a portfolio, serving as evidence to meet the requirements of the awarding body.

Additionally, your Essential Skills will be continuously assessed throughout the duration of the course.
