Our industry-experienced professionals will guide you through practical and production sessions covering front-of-house operations, waiting, and reception, including functions both on and off-premises. You'll also explore essential theory, administration, and develop your portfolio.
Alongside your Food and Beverage Supervision qualification, you'll delve into Leadership Principles in the Hospitality Industry. This will equip you with the skills and techniques to excel in supervisory roles and effectively train your team members.
The programme also includes:
- Essential Skills Wales training and assessments
- Development of Welsh language skills
- Development of literacy and numeracy
- A compulsory work placement

We have strong links with local and national employers, enhancing your opportunities for success. A compulsory work experience element is key to developing the skills and knowledge you'll need for this course and the industry. You'll gain valuable experience in our commercial Ial Restaurant and through external placements. We strongly recommend that you start thinking about where you'd like to gain this valuable learning experience!
You'll also have exciting opportunities for extracurricular experiences during evenings and weekends at functions and events. This will allow you to be fully immersed in planning, preparing, and supervising events for customers.

5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English Language/Welsh (1st Language) and two years of industry experience in Catering and Hospitality (recommended) OR successful completion of a Vocationally relevant Level 2 qualification and a pass in the Essential skills qualifications.

You’ll be assessed through a variety of methods, including observation, short answer tests and written assignments. Your food and beverage skills will be assessed in realistic working environments like our restaurant, events, functions, and during your work experience. Some of your underpinning knowledge will be assessed using short paper-based tests, and you’ll also complete research assignments and tasks such as:
– Designing menus, incorporating current nutritional guidelines
– Producing guides, wall charts, information packs/sheets, leaflets, and posters
– Creating presentations.
