Course Overview
The Level 5 Practice qualification requires prior completion of the Level 4 leadership and management qualification in childcare. Designed for those in leadership roles within the sector it enhances practical leadership and management skills. It's particularly valuable for managers in Flying Start or those working within Early Education and the Curriculum for Wales for non-maintained settings (3-7 year olds in Wales), and is also suitable for those with the prerequisite Level 4 qualification.
Learners are required to complete the Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development qualification prior to taking this qualification.
Level 5 Leadership and Management in Children’s Care, Play, Learning, and Development: Practice cultivates practical leadership and management skills in childcare. Students apply concepts, reflect on leadership impact, and learn to drive performance and service improvement using child-centred methods and data. It also builds crucial communication, numeracy, and digital skills for career advancement in the sector. This is all completed through a mixture of internally and externally assessed components including observations and a project management.
The qualification allows learners to progress their employment opportunities or to continue to further study at a higher level.
