Mobile apps are everywhere in modern life, and can be used to provide information, for entertainment, for fitness, for commerce, or much more. It is increasingly hard to imagine any business currently not having an app of their own.
This course aims to show you the basics of mobile app design and development using a mixture of C++, Java, XML, and app design principles.
The course awards a Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Award in Mobile App Development.
Unit Learning Outcomes
1. Understand the characteristics of mobile apps
2. Be able to produce a design specification for a mobile app for a specific purpose and audience
3. Be able to develop a mobile app to meet design specification requirements
4. Be able to test the mobile app against the design specification
This single unit qualification is designed for learners to investigate the characteristics and uses of mobile apps. You will also design, develop and test your own mobile app in line with a design specification.

Ongoing assessment via tasks and tutor monitoring. Formal assessment via portfolio of evidence.
No prior knowledge is required other than a familiarity with the standard workings of a computer and standard software systems – however, past experience or familiarity with general IT and business systems is desirable.
