Course Overview
The ICDL is the International Certification of Digital Literacy, which was formerly known as the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence). When using IT the ICDL is globally recognised as proof of ability and competence by employers, utilised in over 125 countries worldwide.
The ICDL is designed specifically for those who wish to gain a benchmark qualification in digital to enable them to develop their IT skills and enhance their career prospects.
The benefits for staff gaining a recognised ICDL qualification are substantial -
● Helps reduce time wasted by IT support staff on solving computer related tasks
● Helps reduce time wasted on solving computer related tasks
● Provides a tangible benchmark for computer user competency
● Develops confidence and motivation
It is an internationally recognised qualification. The ICDL consists of the following units -
● Improving Productivity Using IT
● Word Processing
● Spreadsheets
● Presentations
Delivery is based on a flexible mode that’s delivered on site at Coleg Cambria. This works in a workshop fashion, with the learning proceeding on a learner-centred basis, at the learner's own pace and ability level via electronic and/or printed materials. A tutor is on hand at all times during the sessions to provide guidance and support. The course is roll-on, roll-off, which means that learners can start and finish when they need to according to their knowledge and ability levels.
Once enrolled, you will have 12 months to complete your qualification.

There are no formal entry requirements, although a basic familiarity with computers would be beneficial
