Course Overview
The Level 1 Diploma offers an introduction to digital technologies and creative media with a practice based programme of study that will challenge and develop learners’ skills.

Students will learn the concept of development through the different stages of production, whilst using industry standard equipment during creative media activities.

The Esports industry is growing and there are a huge variety of types of work available to someone in Esports. These range from roles in event planning, marketing and branding to coaching and game strategy to video production and many more.

This course helps you to develop the skills and knowledge that you will need to work in this sector. It is not all about gaming and you will only experience a small amount of gaming for assessment work.

This course enables learners to develop their knowledge and practical skills through looking at how IT is used in industry and commerce using a range of software applications.

In this course is assignment based with no formal exams, students will study a range of units.

Literacy and numeracy development will be a core focus for all learners on programme with each learner having the opportunity to undertake Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number.

Learners will be assigned a Pastoral Coach who will support them throughout their time on programme. They will ensure that any ALN support is put in place before learners start and that any new support needs that may arise are incorporated into their programme to help them to thrive. The course is fully supported to meet individual needs and learning differences.

You will be assessed through observation, practical work and written tasks.
4 GCSEs at grade E/2 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or Maths.

For all learners who are looking to progress onto this Level 1 course from Foundation Skills – you must have achieved your E3 qualification, progressed in English and Maths and hit all the targets in your ILP.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.

Learners will be supported to plan their next steps throughout the course. Progression could be to one of the following:

Level 2 IT, Media or Esport, alternatively, a new course in a different vocational area of your choice.

Traineeship or apprenticeship programme.

Employment.
