VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Beauty and Nails (Accelerated)

This course is a job-ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards (NOS).

This qualification will provide you with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a beauty therapist. Throughout this qualification, you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, promote additional services or products to clients, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work, provide facial skincare treatment, enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes, carry out waxing services and provide pedicure and manicure services and gel nails.

The qualification consists of theory sessions and exams. An example of some of the topics you will study are; anatomy and physiology, health and safety and selling of products and services. Therefore, there is an expectation that learners will work in their own time in addition to timetabled sessions in college, to complete the work set as home study.

In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills, their awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, team working and research skills will also be developed.

Learners will be completing regular work experience sessions in our state-of-the-art Beauty salon and Spa whilst studying their qualifications. Developing Employability skills is a fundamental aspect of this course

In addition to the Level 2 Beauty and Nails qualification, the learning area programme consists of the following compulsory elements to the course:

● Essential Skills Wales training and assessments
● Development of Welsh language skills
● All learners must complete a Work Placement

Please note that your timetable may include some evening sessions. Dates will be provided by your tutor on Induction.
