The Toybox Nursery located at Coleg Cambria’s Deeside site have been recognised for their excellence at an Estyn awards ceremony.

The awards recognised 28 schools, colleges and other education settings in Wales that were judged to be excellent for one or both of the overall judgements, for current performance and prospects for improvement in the academic year 2015-2016.

Staff from the Toybox received a certificate and congratulations from Meilyr Rowlands, Estyn’s Chief Inspector, and Kirsty Williams, Cabinet Secretary for Education, at a glittering awards evening held at the Park Plaza Hotel in Cardiff.

Meilyr Rowlands said: “Celebrating the excellence achieved by hard work and commitment within Welsh education is important. Recognising and sharing this excellence can help to inspire improvement in the classroom and, in this spirit, Estyn has published a short brochure highlighting some of the successful features of the 28 schools and other education providers that achieved excellence during the 2015-2016 inspections”.

The Estyn brochure highlights some of the praise given to the Toybox Nursey by Inspectors including how practitioners work together highly effectively to plan a range of innovative and exciting learning experiences for the children. It also describes the leadership and management as ‘outstanding’ developing the provision and leading to improved outcomes and wellbeing for the children.

Coleg Cambria’s CEO David Jones OBE said:

“We wish to congratulate all of the staff at the Toybox Nursey on this wonderful achievement. It truly is an honour for them to receive this prestigious award and reflects their enthusiasm, hard work and commitment to excellence.”
