The sudden and unexpected death of Tony Richards was a devastating shock to his family, work colleagues and many friends.

Tony, who was employed at Coleg Cambria as the Wrexham Estates Officer was a keen rugby player, an expert in karate and enjoyed long distance walking.

He had hiked all over the UK and Europe and as far afield as the Himalayas.

When it came to deciding how best to remember Tony, a popular member of the College Estates team it took no time at all in deciding how that should be done; the annual Tony Richard’s Memorial Walk for charity was instigated.

This year saw friends walk from Chirk to Llangollen, through appealing weather, raising funds for the NSPCC in Tony’s name. Rick Bedson one of Tony’s friends said” a good number of us took part this year, we are planning on increasing that number as the event becomes more established. I couldn’t think of more appropriate way of remembering such a remarkable friend”
