These full time Lifeskills courses are suitable for students with a range of additional learning needs.
The courses are offered at our Northop and Wrexham sites. Northop subjects include: Lifeskills, Cookery, Art & Craft, Horticulture, Animals, Basic Skills & ICT. Grove Park subjects include: Lifeskills, Cookery, Art & Craft, Basic Skills & ICT.
The courses are suitable for students with a range of additional learning needs. Applicants may have moderate learning difficulties (MLD), or severe learning difficulties, (SLD).

Each Life Skills course is designed to enable the learner to gain skills and qualifications in a varied range of subjects, at the most appropriate level. Each course includes:
- Skills for Life and Work
- Literacy and Numeracy
- Health and Wellbeing
- Personal and Social Development
- Practical Skills
(Students will attend lessons in a wide variety of practical subjects).
Students will also be able to undertake a range of enrichment activities, such as trips and visits, sports, fitness and drama.
All applications are considered on an individual basis and offers are based on initial interview. There are no formal entry requirements however we take a range of supporting evidence into consideration before an offer is made. These can include:
- Details of previous qualifications and achievements
- Learning & Skills Plan
- Statement of Need
- Reference from last school or educational establishment
- Social Services reports
- Results of Diagnostic Assessment (Completed at Interview)
A new Life Skills Centre was opened at Northop in 2013 offering students purpose built facilities ensuring that the students are learning the skills and becoming familiar with the different environments they will need to know in order to become more independent in the future.
