Course Overview
An introduction to working with animals and developing practical skills. The course is designed to bring out the inner farmer/ zoo keeper/ animal carer in your child while working alongside our animal keepers in different animal zones each term. They will be building skills to attain their achievement badges and an Animal Carers Certificate at the end of the course. The course is based at our educational training facility for animal care students at Coleg Cambria Northop housing farm animals, small mammals (rabbits/ guinea pigs/ rodents) and reptiles. The site is set in wonderful countryside for the opportunity to explore wildlife too!
Activities will include:
● Preparing feed and feeding animals
● Cleaning out and revamping enclosures
● Grooming
● Creating enrichment for the animals to play with
● Exploring wildlife - signs & tracks/ pond dipping/ bug hunts

Learners will be working towards earning their badges in each area with an Animal Carers Certificate on completion of the course.
Must be aged 12-17 for the duration of the course.
Must have an interest in working with animals.
The course is very hands-on and you may be working outdoors.
