Course Overview
Social Media and Digital Marketing is the use of digital media to attract and engage with current and potential customers, for example online advertising, email marketing, social media campaigning, and search engine optimisation. The rich data generated enables granular analysis of what has worked, demanding analytical and creative skills above those demanded in traditional marketing and advertising.
This qualification recognises the rapid growth of the Social Media and Digital Marketing sectors as business tools and has been developed to support learners wishing to enter this evolving environment. This qualification is aimed at learners entering the Social Media and Digital Marketing sector as well as those already working in these areas who are looking to renew their skills with formal training.
The course runs for 12 months, with one day a week spent in college studying the skills and knowledge required for the qualification, (with breaks for summer and other college holiday periods), alongside some in-work assessment.
● Induction 1 x 2 hour session to include WEST initial assessment
● Assessors will make visits to the workplace to discuss progress on the course
● Day release attendance is required for the Level 3 Social media for Business qualification
You will study the following units one day a week -
● Principles of Social Media within a Business
● Principles of keywords and optimisation
● Social Networking Management for a business
● Content Management System website creation
● Creating and optimising content for the Web
● Principles of Social Media Advertising and promotion
The following unit will be assessed in the workplace -
● Using collaborative technologies
Transferable Skills
● Communications, Level 2
● Application of Number, Level 2
● Digital Literacy, Level 2
● ERR Employee Rights and Responsibilities

A range of assessments including work evidence, assignments, and tests.
This course is for learners aged 16 and over, who are qualified at Level 2 or above or who have appropriate experience or suitable job role in this subject area.
This course assesses learners to ensure they understand social media and digital marketing as a competitive business tool and how these tools and skills can be utilised proactively and constructively. The course includes units to cover a range of knowledge and skills to fully understand the impact and power of social media and digital marketing in this current age.
