Course Overview
The Level 1 Diploma offers an introduction to Digital Technologies and Creative Media with a practice based programme of study that will challenge and develop learners skills.
Students will learn the concept of development through the different stages of production, whilst using industry standard equipment during Creative Media activities.
This course enables learners to develop their knowledge and practical skills through looking at how IT is used in industry and commerce using a range of software applications.
This course is assignment based with no formal exams, and students will study a range of units.
Four Mandatory Units: Being Organised, Developing a Personal Progression Plan, Working with Others and Researching a Topic.
Six digital technologies Units: Solving Technical IT Problems, Using Digital Communications Technologies, Creating a Spreadsheet to Solve Problems, Creating a Website, Creating a Digital Product, Developing a Digital Animated Graphic.
Literacy and numeracy development will be a core focus for all learners on the programme with each learner having the opportunity to undertake Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number or resit GCSEs in maths and English.
Learners will be assigned a Pastoral Coach who will support them throughout their time on programme. They will ensure that any ALN support is put in place before learners start and that any new support needs that may arise are incorporated into their programme to help them to thrive. The course is fully supported to meet individual needs and learning differences.

4 GCSEs at grade E/2 or above including English Language/Welsh (1st Language) or Maths.
For all learners who are looking to progress onto this L1 course from Foundation Skills – you must have achieved your E3 qualification, progressed in English and Maths and hit all the targets in your ILP.
