Course Overview
This qualification meets the needs of learners who work or want to work in various trades of the Construction sector. Or give insight towards the whole Trade construction experience.

It allows learners to learn, develop and practice skills in areas such as brickwork, painting & decorating, carpentry & joinery, plumbing, electrical, plastering and tiling. The core curriculum will help learners to develop the knowledge, theory and practical skills needed to progress to the next level in Construction.

Literacy and numeracy development will be a core focus for all learners on programme with each learner having the opportunity to undertake Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number or resit GCSEs in Maths and English.

Learners will be assigned a Progression Coach who will support them throughout their time on programme. They will ensure that any ALN support is put in place before learners start and that any new support needs that may arise are incorporated into their programme to help them to succeed. The course is fully supported to meet individual needs and learning differences.

The programme is delivered over three days and will be a mixture of classroom and workshop delivery.
Through the completion of a variety of practical based projects, which are supported by a number of classroom based theory sessions. Use of end of unit assessments and practical assessments.
4 GCSEs at Grade E/2 or above including Maths and English/Welsh (1st Language) are essential for this programme.

For all learners who are looking to progress onto this L1 course from Foundation Skills or Entry – you must have achieved your main qualification, progressed in Maths and English and hit all of the targets in your ILP.

At Coleg Cambria we would encourage you to do the very best that you can in your exams. The better your grades the more options you will have, and may result in you gaining entry onto a higher level course.
Learners will be supported to plan their next steps throughout the course. Progression could be to one of the following:

A higher level course in a vocational area of your choice.
Traineeship or apprenticeship programme.
Employment.
A community based programme.
Some courses may require equipment and/or uniforms to be purchased. This will be advised on application.
