Course Overview
This qualification prepares you for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting.
This course is a knowledge-based qualification that comprises of 3 units. The first is aimed at helping you to understand schools as organisations, the second relates to understanding how to keep children and young people healthy, safe and well and the final unit is to help you to understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults.

This qualification will be internally assessed using a range of methods, which could include written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams, or setting up an information board.
No specific entry requirements. This is a knowledge-only qualification. Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification.
Learners may have the opportunity to progress onto a suitable level 2 qualification such as the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning to support a career pathway as a teaching assistant.
This course is free if you are over 19 years old and live in Wrexham or Flintshire. If you are under 19 years old there is a cost of £150. This course is for over 18 years only.
