Course Overview
This course will prepare you for work within the Health and Social Care sector, which is equivalent to 3 A levels.
In order to achieve a 3 A level qualification across the 2 years to support your university applications you will be offered the opportunity to complete extended units which will include science elements. We also offer for you to resit your Biology GCSE part time which is delivered during the evening, please refer to our website for further information. Learners intending to progress to higher education would benefit from studying an additional level 3 qualification alongside this Diploma. Now remove this.

You will study a range of topics to develop and demonstrate your knowledge, skills and understanding within the context of health and social care services which includes current issues in relation to Health and Social Care, principles of care and safe practice, factors affecting individual growth and development and the impact on care and support needs, promoting rights, supporting individuals at risk and working within the health care sector. New learners will also achieve the HSC Core qualification alongside their level 3 programme to help prepare them to work within the sector.

Learners who have achieved a B/6 in Biology GCSE will be offered the opportunity to complete the WJEC Medical Science level 3 qualification over a 2 year period, in order to provide them with the opportunity to achieve a third A level and gain a qualification in Science.

There is a significant placement element attached to the course and you will be required to undertake a minimum of 150 hours in a relevant setting.
This course is assessed through internal assessment and external assessment which includes assignments, case studies and examinations.
